Check online about the home school movement in Placer County. They have people who go to a mutually-convenient place (library, etc.) & meet with the student weekly, going over homework assignments, explaining new work, and assigning new work.
Also, contact stores like "The Report Card" locally. They may be able to get you in touch with the home schoolers around the area. Also, "Borders" (the book store) has had meetings of the Home School Assn. there, at times. Ask them if they know the reference number for it. The California Assn. for the Gifted could probably tell you some references, as could a call to the State Dept. of Education, downtown.
Also, there are programs in the public schools called, "Independent Study." Check with the local school districts about that. She'd only need to go to class one hour each week, and could work at her own pace and get a diploma or a GED.
Good luck!
i thought home school was being taught by your own parents or parent
Home school is just that, school at home. You do it all.
My kids have never been to a school away from home and never will.
If you need more info email me.
Try the virtual academy. It's CAVA. It's so AWESOME and they send you a free computer.
There's a "charter" school in Vacaville, CA called Buckingham Charter School. It is basically homeschool, but you have to meet with the teachers once a week for maybe 30 minutes. It's a really good school, great teachers, plus they have the option of taking some on site classes. Check it out!

You should check out buckingham school anyhow, because they DO have teachers that come out to YOUR house. It doesn't matter where you live or if you're in the school district. Also if you don't like that one, I also went to American School in Lansing IL, though it costs money, it's a correspondence school. I just thought I should inform you of that! :) bye
Hi Friends,
Want to share my fabulous experience of live online math tutoring sessions. It started with a free demo
of 45 minutes. I didn’t know that Math can be a fun. I worked from my own place with simple technology and I got all my doubts and questions resolved. With its anywhere and anytime tutoring I got the right help when I needed. It is simply easy & convenient. Visit www.stepsedu.com for further details.
I really do not understand why people come on here, ask questions, then get in a knot when people don't give them exactly what they want and how they want it.
There is simply no need to shout nor curse at the responders on here.
You asked, and I quote "Need help finding a homeschool." well, pumpkin, your wording is all off. The way people responded to you is in keeping with the wording you chose. There are as many "homeschools" In Sacramento as there are homeschooling families.
Each family is considered it's own little homeschool.
Now, if you are looking for something different, then why didn't you just say so.
If you have experience, then why don't you go back to your roots and start there.
Again, no need to shout. Next time, word your question in a more appropriate manner to get the results you want.
And I did answer your question by pointing out that each family is considered it's own "homeschool"
Your homeschool situation is not typical of homeschooling. In fact, it's very, very rare which is probably why you are having a difficult time finding anything online. I don't think I've heard of that being done in recent years (having a teacher come to your house once a week).
What seems to be typical of most Californians I've read about who want a teacher to mark their stuff is that they do it through a high school. What has been described is that, instead of having the teacher come to the student, the student goes into the school once a week. The high schools that are willing to do this don't necessarily advertise it online so you'll have to do some calling around.
Another option to consider is K12. While she wouldn't have face-to-face contact with a teacher, she would submit all of her work online, be able to contact the teacher for help, she would have all the books supplied, etc. This page has a list of schools in California associated with K12 http://www.k12.com/curriculum_and_produc... . I don't know if you would have to live in their district or not.
Another option would be to contact various charter schools in your area and see what they might offer. But as I said above, don't count on the information being available online. As full of info the internet is, it'll never be complete.
Good luck!
Yep...please don't shout. People are giving you information according to your wording. I believe what you're looking for is an "independent study program"...not necessarily homeschooling.
Each district is different; try contacting the Board of Ed in Sacramento and ask what schools around you offer. I know there are several schools in CA that offer programs like this; around the rest of the country, they generally do not, so many people probably are thinking you mean "homeschool", as in mom stays home and teaches.
You probably won't find it on the net, you'll probably have to do some legwork with the school district and the board of ed. When I lived in Anaheim, my neighbor's son was independent study, she had to set this up through his school.
Try contacting some people here: http://www.homefires.com/support_groups.

Really, when you are asking for location-specific answers, it's really to your benefit to just google it and contact people in your area with your questions.
Here are some home-based charter schools you could try.

Here's a list of all CA charters, there may be something in there

You could try California Virtual Academy
http://www.caliva.org/
or Connections Academy
http://www.connectionsacademy.com/...
Or you could contact the local High School and ask about Independant Study.
Or you could hire a private tutor.
Don't get angry at this please. Did you know that you can homeschool independently? Yes, you can also sign up for programs where a teacher visits and such like you did, but you can also homeschool all on your own.
If this interests you, but you still feel you need some help and guidance see
http://www.aophomeschool.com
for an online course.
See http://www.hslda.com for info on homeschooling in CA.
Also try Googling "Homeschool Sacramento, California" Look for support groups and they should be able to give very specific info on your area.
Good luck!
PS I know it can be frustrating to start, I hope you find the info you need.
