9th Grade Science Question Help?

Question:My brother has the following question on his 9th grade science homework. It's a teacher-typed page and not from the book. I can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

7. A barge has the dimensions of 25m by 10m and a height of 6m. What mass do the makers have to make it in order for it to float in fresh water?

Answers:
volume=length times width times height.

v=25*10*6
v=1500.

density=mass/volume.

the density of water is 1 g/cm^3. so.

d=m/v
1=m/1500.
m=1500.

therefore, the mass would have to be 1500.

I'm pretty sure that's right. It's been awhile.
