Question:Why do students tend to confuse the terms imperialism and nationalism?

Answers:
2 : imperialism: the policy, practice, or advocacy of extending the power and dominion of a nation especially by direct territorial acquisitions or by gaining indirect control over the political or economic life of other areas

1 : nationalism: loyalty and devotion to a nation

Imperialism deals with being so power driven, that you want your country to dominate other nations. Nationalism is just simply being proud of your country.
Because they don't really know the definition of both terms, students often confuse imperialism with nationalism.
i dunno
good question
I assume because imperialistic countries stress nationalism to brainwash their citizens to believe they live in the best, most powerful country. For example, Japan in the '30s.
