First ask yourself why you are in a writing class. Do you have to? Or did you choose yourself? Do you hate the class in general or just today?
Are you paying for this class. If you do, calculate how much every hour of that class actually costs you and think if you can afford to throw that money away.
Are you generally doing well in class or not very?
If you doing well in class and just have a bad day, I don't think your experience will be that much poorer by missing out on one essay.
If you are not doing well, you probably need all the practice you can get, so you should do that essay.
If you hate the class most of the time, what the hell are you doing there?
And if the class is boring, then it's up to you to make some effort to make it not boring. If you are not just a consumer but a contributor as well it is usually much more entertaining and you will learn a hell lot more.

try this: write a 900 page treatise on why writing extra essays is unfair
You don't have to do anything you don't want to do! Will it help out your grade though. There are going to be allot of things in your life that you will not like doing but you may have to. You might want to start practicing at it now that way you will be ready for the next one!
shut up!!
Uh......yeah. If you don't you'll probably fail and that will lower your average. If it is for extra marks, then screw it! Source(s):
