What are the best ways to prepare for a major exam?

Question:

Answers:
have enough sleep, so that on the exam time u wouldn't sick.
Study. Study. Pass the Captain's exam first! Study study study! IT TAKES STAYIN ON TOP OF YOUR **** DOIN THE DAILY WORK AND PREPERATION THERR IS NO PREP FOR A MAJOR EXAM B/C TESTS LIKE TAHT ARE BASED MORE ON YOUR INATE INTELLIGENCE (IQ) AND YOUR OVERALL EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

TAKE IT EASY AND RELAX POSITVE THINKING AND CONFIDENCE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO HAVE YET TO BE TRUELLY CONFIDENT YOU HAVE TO KNOW YOUR **** Read and study in groups. That way you can quiz each other and compare notes/homework answers.. Well the best way i find is to just read... For example i have my histroy test and what i did was just read the whole damn book and asked my freind to test me for it.. that is the best way.. or you could do one more thing that you can write down revision notes and just learn through them... I hope this Helps Read the material. Understand the material. Recall the material. Once you have revised your work, get good sleep and eat a good low GI (Glycemic Index for long lasting energy, not a carb spike) meal.
Try to relax and think positively. well CHEAT! make sue you sit behind somebody who has prepared well Sit down in front of a great view, with a ice-blended mocha from Starbucks and a pack of cigarettes. Now, STUDY !! Read it, write it, say it, practicing all three helps to concrete the infor in your memory...you always forget something 3 times before you remember it. Dont study for longer than an hour at a time, take a break, and do another hour...your brain needs rest and your brain will not remember. Dont cram, you only remember 30% of what you study in a day, so take a couple days to study. Get good sleep after studying, sleep=stored memory. study one thing at a time, take a short brake to ease the eyes maybe grab a healthy snack and continue to study. I normally read the notes that I had made over the course of the year. From those notes I'd cut them down to a simplified version etc. etc... And if I didn't have notes then I would quickly make them and then speed memorise. Go through your lecture notes. Rewrite them into a clearer, more coherent form, in such a way you would write/explain to someone who doesn't know what the topic is about. By rewriting your notes, you are not only refreshing your memory, but committing it to long term memory and since it is written in a way you would use to explain to someone else, it is based on your own understanding of the topic and hence, much easier to understand. When you answer the exam questions, your answer in your own words will demonstrate to the examiner that you understand the topic and is able to convey that using your own words (rather than cut-and-copy block regurgitation of textbook lingo).

Other ways - study and mug through it. Depending on yourself (you should know yourself best), get into group study or study alone. Group study is good if everyone else has done their work. Feel free to throw questions at the group and discuss. Each person has their forte and you might find out you have things to learn from each other. Mainly, try to cut out distractions (e.g. TV, computer) - your exams are a temporary chore. Get them over and done with and you can play all you want after that. Once u sit for preparing dont get up unless and until it is important. Schedule the work to be done in the early hours of the morning. Read upto 10hours a day. concentrate on wht u read 1. make sure you have read all assignments, done all homework problems, and that you have all the notes for every class. If missing any notes, ask to copy a classmates or two to make sure you get everything. If you have trouble understanding any homework problem go see the professor. They usually love to help. Frequently they will give you a hint as to what will be on the exam. It's worth getting to know the prof, plus once he knows you it can help later if you want a teacher reference.

2. See if the professor lets previous students keep old test copies or whether he has a collection for students to look at as a review.

3. Read over all chapters and notes multiple times. Try to anticipate questions you may be asked. Find out from prof if exam will be essay, multiple choice, true false, problems, etc.

Think of answers to the types of questions you may be asked. If you think you may be asked to name a long list of something try to make up something to help you remember-for example, something like roygbiv, which is used to help remember the colors of the rainbow.

Memorize any formulas you need for the test if math or science. Ask the prof ahead of time if formulas provided or need to memorize. Make sure you have pencils and whatever your allowed to take in to test such as a beverage.

Study harder than the competition. Make sure you eat enough to keep up your strength. People have different learning styles, but here are some ways to help you, just in case. By the way, this is effective if the exam is still far off (maybe by a week).

In no specific order:
- Be well rested the night before you begin studying
- Have all the references, books, material you need in one place so that you wont have to get up from your study area (try to be organized, clutter distracts)
- Start with some memory exercises, minor memorization of study material, and then build up
- Jot down notes
- Test yourself
- Have others test you
- Review notes you've made or previous minor exams you've taken
- Eat well and sleep well - a healthy body helps you have a healthy mind
- Avoid distractions
- Psych yourself up to study, think positively
- Set a study time, dont cram, be consistent
- If necessary, hire a tutor If in trouble,
If in doubt,
Run in circles,
Scream and shout First thing that you should do is go over the work that you did that day and stay on top of your work .complete all assessments on time .relax eat healthy have plenty of sleep and think positive and say too your self that you can do it and you will. Firstly, relax yourself. Being panic is not of any help to you for the exams. Being rational, if you always work hard, why should you feel worried about the exams?
Next, make simple lists with all the important things you have studied on the subjects (need be on separated pages).
Furthermore, extend the points listed and make them more detailed. If on some points which you are not quite sure, it’s time for you to check with your peers, teachers/supervisors or review the relevant chapters in the books.
In addition, to look at the previous exam papers, model test papers and answers as well as the remarks from the examiners sometimes also helps.
When you sit the exams, you need to do your best you can. Don’t get desperate if there are some topics you are unfamiliar or unaware of. Think if you feel it hard, and other people may be in the same situation as you. No matter how well you have prepared and worked hard, you may find there are still something new to you, because that’s the characteristics of exams – not only to test on average knowledge, but also to test your imagination and creation.
At last, after doing the papers, you must check your answers carefully, and make sure those that you know answered correctly. As to those that you are not sure or you have no idea at all, you need to make sensible and reasonable guess. breathe , study... relax... and if ur confident wit the work.. dont stress about the exam... *breath in... and out* SLEEP WELL THE NIGHT BEFORE.
IF u can take 2 days off before the exam date. on day 1 study study study. on the 2nd day mix study with rest, and fun. There is nothing like a bad night's sleep and nerveousness to wreck a good exam! Umm.
first of all,DON'T STRESS
study really hard & it will be A PIECE OF CAKE
lol!!### study and revise the whole thing again .. Understand wat u read .. and if possible write it down and check Yes it's true but studying before an exam really helps and hey it works for me! You could also ask your teacher what unit/subject you need to study in particular. For example, if you are about to have a math exam, you may need to focus on algebra or fractions. Just do whatever that works for you. Firstly determine exactly what is to be examined, there will be key concepts outlined in the beginning of your course or if not ask the teacher, lecturer the objectives, once you have this info then go through text and extract only pertinent info write this down, read and rewrite until you understand. Find out if exam will be multiple choice, written short answer or extended answer type paper. Prepare your responses accordingly
I found it easy to make short acronyms for info I needed like for example "pear"this word to me stood for personal education achieved through reading.Make cards or sheets of paper with single words and stick them around your room so you see them, like on your mirror on end of bed etc, these are key words that allow you to remember elaboarate information. Most of all don't stress it is only a test of memory and understanding. Not everyone can remember even though they may be very good at understanding the work and applying it. study, prepare or u can go the easy way & cheat! (by the way i wouldn't cheat)
