Do you have to have a masters degree to teach in elementary school in the state of ny?

Question:i heard somewhere that u have to have a masters degree in education to teach k-12 in new york. is that true. i dont think it is but i could be wrong

Yes you do but you have 5 years after graduating to get it.
No. Can't hurt, though. But not required in any state.

Different schools have different requests, though. Some private schools may not hire you.
